Organic Farming
Ecological' agriculture – (organic, biological) - the system of farming, in which application of the synthetic mineral fertilizers, pesticides, regulators of growth and synthetic additives is excluded. This agriculture is characterized by production in the closed cycle: the soil – plant – animal, with maintenance of a large self - sufficiency.
Tillage of plants
The proper crop rotation taking into account the soil structure improving plants and augmenting the content of organic material in the soil (e.g. perennial legumes), cover of the soil surface with the vegetation by possibly a longest period in a year ( applying of companion crops, catch crops and after-crops), organic fertilization with fertilizers produced on the farm (compost, manure, green fertilizers) permitting to keep fertility of the soil, fertilization with minerals- the use of low solubility mineral fertilisers (Council Regulation 2018/848), mechanical weeding without chemical crop protection products, application of the agricultural science methods of combat diseases, pests ( a suitable succession and neighbourhood of plants), application of the biological preparations and plant extracts, application of organic plant reproductive material.
Animals husbandry
Behaviour of animals health and welfare, the way of keeping – a suitable surface area of livestock housing, access to paddocks and pastures, mMaximum headage- 1.5 PAD/ ha should not be exceeded, the nourishment of animals based on usage of feeds produced with organic methods, applying alophathic veterinary medicines and antibiotics is forbidden. In special cases agreed with the certification body use of above medicines for treatment of animals is admitted on responsibility of a doctor of veterinary.
Application prohibited for
Synthetic means of plant protection and chemical fertilizers, seed dressings, hydroponic production, artificial concentrates, genetically modified organisms (GMO), industrial fodders, ionizing radiation, prohibition on landless livestock production , animal cloning, rearing artificially induced polyploid animals.
How to become an organic farmer? How to get the certificate of organic farming one should?
A producer who wants to switch his production to ecological methods is obliged to send to BC COBICO:
• application for certification of organic farm with attachments
• the application form, description of production unit as well as application of activity in organic farming.
The submission of application means that from this moment you have begun conversion of your production to organic ecological methods of husbanding in compliance with the Act on organic agriculture of the Council Regulation No 2018/848 of 30th May 2018 and give access to farm for inspection. The conversion period lasts at least 2 years, and in case of many years' tillages that is orchards of as well as berry plantation 3 years. The charges for the certification process must be paid according to the invoices received. The amount of charges is regulated by the price list BC COBICO.
Profits resulting from establishing of organic farm
- Getting of a trade mark "product of organic farming”.
- The right to marketing of the organic farming products at higher prices with regard to their quality.
- Supplementary payments to the arable land.
